"From Desert to Sustainable Vineyard and Really Good Wines"
Copper Horse Vineyard is a beautiful boutique vineyard located in South East Arizona, at the foothills of the Chiricahuas Mountains. We grow our local grapes at an altitude of 4,500 ft and can be found just 50 miles from the Mexican border. Our vineyard consists of French Rhone type grapes, such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Viognier along with, Muscat a Petits Grains, and Spanish Tempranillo.
Copper horse vineyard takes pride in providing quality, local wine at an affordable price that you will find immensely enjoyable on any occasion. We grow grapes locally in a sustainable fashion to produce not only a quality product but also help the economy and preserving the environment. Beside trying to be completely organic, we are trying to be biodynamic by generating our own fertility through composting, integrating animals, and cover cropping. Copper horse vineyards aim is to help bring a global vision in winemaking to a new area of Arizona that is guaranteed to flourish.
The state of AZ is making considerable economic gains due to the wine industry. In fact, the wine industry is one of the only value-added industries in Arizona seeing substantial gains. According to Wine America, a national wine industry trade association promoting advancement and advocacy of sound public policy, “grapes are the highest value fruit crop in the nation and the sixth-largest crop overall. Grapes account for around 30% of the value of all fruits grown in America”.
In addition, according to the Arizona Wine Growers Association (AWGA), the state’s trade association, in 2004, there were less than 10 wineries in Arizona. Today there are more than 50, and much more are in the development phase, one of which being Copper Horse Vineyard. Although as a business we are in our startup stage, we have just planted 6 acres as a proof of concept. We are currently making and selling quality wines that will strengthen the upcoming Arizona wine industry.
